In answering all these queries we monitor on a quarterly basis with returns and also meet with our Healthwatch body.
a) We have let an agreement with Healthwatch Brighton and Hove and this is monitored through a performance monitoring framework that includes an outcome related to this activity. Healthwatch is required to identify how they are making a difference by measuring how they know that there has been “ improved patient and service user experiences of health and social care “ as well as increasing the engagement of patients and care service users in decision making.
b) We look at safeguarding alerts and where these are from · We also monitor the enter and view visits undertaken and what were the findings and recommendations from these visits · We also monitor number of Patient-led assessments of the care Environment · We also have an agreement with NHS ICAS that they are able to pass intelligence about the findings and trends in relation to complaints to help with the process of supporting Healthwatch identify rends that can be explored.
c) We request the number of enter and view visits undertaken and follow this up with ASC, or other providers to check what has happened. We empower Healthwatch to do this but if we need to follow up we do as part of the performance process.
d) We have an outcome related to showing evidence of how Healthwatch has worked with patients and care users to influence commissioners and then monitor what has happened as a result of that work
e) This falls under (d) as an outcome
f) We monitor the number of contacts made by the general public through email, phone, website and also via community engagement and outreach. In relation to the phone line we also monitor what kind of information is given and our Healthwatch also maintains and information prescriptions website which helps to ensure that up to date information is given to general public.
g) We meet Healthwatch B&H on a quarterly basis to look at all the above. This year we have been looking at what kind of requests might be asked of Healthwatch England to support this area of work.
